Kidney Stones

A Kidney Stone is a Hard, Crystalline Material formed within the Kidney or Urinary Tract. Kidney Stones cause Pain in the Abdomen, Flank, or Groin which can also result in Passage of Blood in the Urine, called(Hematuria).

The condition of having Kidney Stones is termed Nephrolithiasis. Having Stones at any location in the Urinary Tract is referred to as Urolithiasis. Endourology is a Minimally Invasive Technique to treat Stone Diseases, where a Tiny Laser is used to break up stones into smaller pieces to help spit it out of the body as residue.

Kidney Stone Symptoms & Signs

While some Kidney Stones may not produce Symptoms(known as "Silent" Stones), some people with Kidney Stones do experience some significant symptoms, which are:

  • Cramping Pain in their Low Back and/or Side, Groin, or Abdomen
  • Severe Pain accompanied by Vomiting
  • Passage of Blood in the Urine
  • Difficulty in Urination
  • Urinary Urgency
  • Penile Pain

Treatment for Kidney Stones & Endourology

Most Kidney Stones eventually pass through the Urinary Tract on their own within 48 hours with the right Prescribed Medication. Surgical Techniques have also been developed to remove Kidney Stones when other treatment methods are not effective. There are also surgical procedures such as Endourology, which helps to treat Kidney Stones through breaking them into smaller pieces.
